Inherit secures access to CO2 storage capacity in Denmark
Oslo, Norway – Dec 13, 2023 – Inherit Carbon Solutions signs contract for permanent storage of CO2 with Gas Storage Denmark (GSD), part of the Danish state’s gas and power infrastructure system called Energinet.
Inherit develops high-quality carbon removal projects and will use the GSD facility at Stenlille in Denmark to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere on a permanent basis. The origin of the carbon dioxide will be renewable natural gas (RNG) plants across Scandinavia that capture the gas as part of their normal gas cleaning operations.
This agreement is the result of Denmark’s first tender for CO2 storage in Denmark as part of the CO2RYLUS project organized by GSD.
"We are very excited to become one of GSD’s first customers for CO2 storage" said Mike Carpenter, Inherit's CEO and Co-founder, “the market for carbon removal credits is really taking off and this agreement will enable us to remove CO2 from the atmosphere and document this through the credits that we sell”.

About Inherit Carbon Solutions
Carbon removal doesn’t have to be energy intensive or to compete with arable land to grow food. It also doesn’t have to be at a small scale. We can remove gigatons of CO₂ and store it for 1000+ years. Our co-founders, Kaja and Mike, met while assessing opportunities for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) from biomethane production. They discovered that the technology is here and began working to implement the commercialization and implementation.
